First 9-1-1 Call — February 18, 1968
- 1937: Great Britain institutes “9-9-9” as national emergency number
- 1967: Johnson Commission recommends single nationwide emergency number
- 1968: ATT selects “9-1-1”
- 1976: First selective routing and Automatic Number Identifier (ANI)
- 1980: First true Enhanced 9-1-1 (E911) with ANI and Automatic Location Identifiers (ALI)
- 1984: County Communications E9-1-1 goes online with several cities creating the largest, most sophisticated system in the State
- 2012: 97.5% of the U.S. population served by E911 services
